It was the end of an era the week of October 16, 2023, at UCSF Parnassus Heights as the last pieces of structural steel came down from UC Hall for the Parnassus Research and Academic Building (PRAB). Demolition of UC Hall started earlier this year. 

For the PRAB, excavation is currently underway to build a shoring platform, and trucks are hauling debris and dirt from the site. Shoring activities are expected to start in January and continue through September 2024. All dates and details are subject to change.

UC Hall, built in 1917, was the University of California’s first hospital. The building became seismically outdated and functionally obsolete.
