Sandler Neurosciences Center

UCSF entered into a public private partnership with Edgemoor McCarthy Cook to develop a 237,000 square foot laboratory and research facility on Block 19 of the Mission Bay Campus.  The building is occupied by researchers of the Department of Neurology, the Institute for Neurodegenerative Diseases (IND), and the Center for Integrative Neuroscience (CIN).

UCSF utilized a nonprofit 501c3 to provide tax exempt financing under a ground lease, development agreement, and space agreement structure.  UCSF leases the building for 36-years, at the end of which the building reverts to UC.  The project was the first of its model in the UC system and was awarded the 2013 Business Times Deal of the Year Award, the 2013 Design Build Institute of America (DBIA) Best Design Build Award, and the 2010 Business Times Deal of the Year, Finance.
